CULTURAL ARTS FIELD TRIP: ROGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA

STEP will attend the Rogers + Hammerstein's Cinderella Musical to celebrate the successful end of year!
About the Show: Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA is the Tony Award®-winning musical from the creators of South Pacific and The Sound of Music that's delighting audiences with its surprisingly contemporary take on the classic tale. This lush production features an incredible orchestra, jaw-dropping transformations and all the moments you love—the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and more—plus some surprising new twists! Be transported back to your childhood as you rediscover some of Rodgers + Hammerstein's most beloved songs, including "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible/It's Possible" and "Ten Minutes Ago" in this hilarious and romantic experience for anyone who's ever had a dream.
Participants must also complete one (1) reflective discussion session set for Monday, December 3rd (Location: GRAN 130)
The tale depicts multiple themes and reveals significant ideas about gender and class relations prevalent within societies. Our discussion sessions will allow participants to reflect on the play and also reflect on themes and ideas deeper within their own communities and here at UC Merced.
Session A: 10:00AM - 10:30AM
Session B: 10:30AM - 11:00AM
Session C: 11:00AM - 11:30AM
Note: Participants who cannot attend the session may complete a short reflective essay response.
Important information to know:
- The field trip is only open to registered STEP Scholars
- Bus departs UC Merced at 10AM | Pick Up Location: Tenaya Hall
- Food not provided; should we get there early, students may get food prior to show starting. Show starts at 1PM
- Estimated arrival time to San Jose: 12Noon
- Estimated arrival time back to UC Merced: 6PM
- Students may bring your own food on bus. Make sure to clean up after yourself.
- All participants complete a reflective discussion OR short reflective essay response after attending the play.
